Build the base first
Squat, hinge, push, pull and loaded carry patterns build a broad foundation. Exercise selection should match the athlete's experience, joints, equipment and ring schedule.
The goal is not to copy wrestling inside the weight room. The goal is to develop physical qualities that support wrestling.
Train power while you are fresh
Jumps, throws and other explosive work are most useful when the athlete can move with speed and control. Place demanding power work before fatigue changes technique.
Keep the amount reasonable. Quality matters more than turning every power session into conditioning.
Respect ring practice
Ring sessions already create impact, fatigue and sport specific stress. Hard lower body lifting immediately before demanding ring work may reduce the quality of both.
Plan the week as one complete workload instead of treating lifting and wrestling as unrelated activities.
